Winston was found in someone's carport with a dish of milk. Obviously, whoever put him there, figured the owner would help him. And Winston really needed help! He weighed 4.5 lbs and it was originally thought that he was an old, sick cat. It turns out that he's really just a year old, and was in such a state of starvation and dehydration, that on a scale of 1 - 9, the vet said his condition was a 1. The vet figures that he had been locked up somewhere with no food or water for a while -- somewhere like a shed. Winston would have died if he hadn't been placed in that carport. But as it turns out, he's doing great at the vet's. They gave him fluids, which his body soaked up like a sponge. And food, which he now gobbles up with no coercion. The fact that he's eating on his own, and has an appetite is key to his recovery. After 3 days at the vet, Winston has gained 3/4 of a pound, and the vet is very happy with his progress. He should be well enough to go to a home of his own shortly. The staff reports that he is such a loving cat that he rubs his face raw on the bars of the cage because he wants attention so badly. He's exceedingly friendly, pushing his head against you for contact. Winston deserves people that will give him lots of love and affection -- and a never ending food bowl!
