The BMW 319/1 is one of the rarest and most in-demand German cars from the inter-war era. Only 178 BMW 319/1s were ever built. The few available today cost 230,000 euros - more than a Ferrari. Andreas Mooser is lucky enough to own one of these vintage models. He picked up his after it was damaged in a car crash, and spent 14 years restoring the engine and the body. Today, Andreas and his car take part in vintage vehicle trips. He drives the car himself to such events. That's because he thinks cars - even vintage models - are made for the road.

Audi presents three new models in S-series line-up. The S6 series is available as a station wagon or sedan. The S6 Avant and the S7 Sportback both boast a fastback. And they’re all powered by the same powerful engine, a four-cylinder V8 biturbo with 309 kilowatts of thrust. A special cylinder engine program saves gas by switching off four of the cylinders during more leisurely driving. This means that, on average, the S6 four-door sedan needs 9.6 liters of gas to cover 100 kilometers.

The Citroën DS5The Citroën DS was a massively popular car in France for several decades. Its futuristic form and sensational self-leveling suspension are legendary. So is the new DS5 another automotive revolution? The designers have done all they can to give the DS5 a conspicuous look. Too short to be a wagon, too high for a coupe - and complete with chrome "sabers” at the front: the DS5 is not here to keep to conventions. On the comfort front, however, it’s no match for the original DS. Its suspension is far too rigid.Admire it! This week, Drive it! presents vehicles large and small, and shows how cars can be made both safer and faster.Present it!: Peugeot 208With the 208, the French car manufacturer unveils the eighth generation of its successful compact model. Its optimized construction makes it especially compact, light, and maneuverable.Although it’s seven centimeters shorter than its predecessor, the 208 has the same wheelbase and more space inside. Backseat passengers have five centimeters more room and the trunk holds 15 liters more. The new 208 also has an updated exterior and cockpit. The steering wheel has markedly shrunk and the instruments are arranged above it. Test it!: Porsche Panamera GTSMore power, stronger brakes, and a body that’s 10 millimeters closer to the ground.Add to this a sportier chassis with pneumatic suspension and adaptive adjustment of the shock absorbing system - the technical advances that have transformed the Panamera into the GTS version. It’s still an excellent car for everyday driving, but the 316-kilowatt engine makes the car suitable for the racetrack, too. And it features Porsche’s trademark throaty roar.Inside it! Audi Driver Assistance SystemsSome 90 percent of traffic accidents are due to human error. Many can be avoided through modern assistance systems.New car models, especially those in the luxury segment, already come with electronic aids to help drivers stick to lanes, avoid blind spots and keep a safe distance. And these assistance systems keep getting smarter and better. The Pre Sense City system package from Audi helps prevent side collisions and helps drivers keep a safe distance from pedestrians and cyclists. Examine it! The Tuning World Bodensee 2012This year, the Tuning World Bodensee, one of Europe's biggest car customizing expositions, celebrates its tenth birthday.228 exhibitors, 29 world premieres, and more than 1,000 vehicles gathered at the Friedrichshafen trade fair grounds to mark the event. There were plenty of new trends, but the styling was noticeably less flashy. The customized cars aren't that easy to spot anymore and their interiors appear elegantly sober. Smartphones and apps are also playing a growing role in customizing and can help in many ways - for instance, in choosing the right wheel rims. Vintage: Zongshen - The world's smallest busZongshen comes from China and is a hit in the country's chaotic traffic conditions. The world's smallest passenger bus has room for two.Johannes Hübner in Frankfurt has an original Zongshen. It's the only one of its kind in Germany. Hübner discovered the bus in the Netherlands and fell in love with it. The contraption is rudimentary, consisting of a thin tin body and powered by a 7 horsepower scooter engine. The boxy vehicle is far from comfy, which explains why it's only clocked up 12 kilometers so far.

Safety Belts - Less Protection in the BackAdvanced seat belt features like pretensioners and load limiters provide maximum safety, but in most vehicles the back seats are only kitted out with basic belts. It is an omission that could be fatal. Pretensioners radically reduce passenger movement in the event of a collision, load limiters reduce the energy released as the belt tightens - both technologies decreasing the risk of serious injury to the upper torso. Drive it! asks why the technology is not standard for the majority of carmakers. Vintage: The AmphicarA garage in Munich ...
