Cameroon's coasts are suffering from overfishing. Foreign trawlers have depleted stocks to the point where there are few fish left. The city of Limbe in southwestern Cameroon has been hard hit - entire neighborhoods here live off the sea. Raphael Ayuk is the director of a local NGO. He says that the local population also bears responsibility. To smoke their fish, they take wood from mangroves that serve as spawning grounds for the fish. Fewer trees equals fewer fish. But newly developed smoking ovens - which require only half the wood and half the time - could help tackle the problem.

We take a look at one of Skopje’s 10 municipalities - and one that is home to many Roma. Šuto Orizari is home to over 22,000 people and also has the largest Roma settlement in the world. Living conditions are poor and most are unemployed. Ljatife Sikovska is Roma herself and wants to help improve the situation for her community. She does this with her organization "Ambrela", which offers programs on education, human rights and gender equality.

Now they're being converted to become more energy-efficient and even to produce electricity. Nepal has about 25,000 traditional water mills scattered throughout the country. 6,500 of them already have been converted. These new and improved water mills are a climate-friendly alternative, and could serve as a model for other countries in Asia.

As in most places, garbage in Turkey is usually taken to a dump and left to rot for many decades. Organic waste in particular gives off great quantities of methane into the atmosphere, where it affects the climate. A cutting-edge facility in Adana, Turkey, collects the gas and burns it to generate electric power. It protects the environment and makes money, too. The modern technique of dry rather than wet fermentation result in a far more efficient plant. The regional government and people of Adana are all sold on the project. They know, when they toss out a banana skin, it will come back to light their homes.
