our countdown continues of the ten biggest stories of 20-10... tonight's story starts with a gruesome discovery in kansas city that turned into a shocking investigation that left albuquerque families wondering what happened to their dead loved ones. joe vigil has number 9--- the bio-care investigation. johnny frausto wanted his organs harvested for science. so his wife sharon signed his remains over to bio care when he died. the albuquerque company distributes body parts for research. . in exchange frausto was promised her husband's cremated remains two to four weeks later. ten weeks passed and nothing. "they just keep telling us next week next week." investigators started looking into bio care in march when they say boxes containing body parts--labeled bio care--- were found at a medical waste facility in kansas city. the facility incinerates waste but not body parts. an employee alerted authorities some families received cremated remains only to find out their loved ones remains were actually at the kansas city facility. sandra naranjo's uncle -- a war vet and sheriff's deputy-- also chose donation. his remains were signed over to bio care. "i was worried concerned, betrayed, i though is that my uncle that's out there? who did we get? why would they do something like this?" medical investigators then started the process of identifying body parts in kansas city and at bio care---where authorities found more than 200 body parts. dusti haey represents frausto's wife who's suing bio care owner paul montano. harvey says the medical investigators report of death shows the things that happened to johnny frausto's remains-- indicate some crude business operations. "mr frausto's torso is in a cooler that did not work. his limbs and head stuck in the stero-cycle bins in kansas." bio care owner paul montano initially faced fraud charges -- but they were dropped so albuquerque lice could complete their investigation. that investigation is nearly complete... bio care has denied any wrongdoing.
