Meaning you can run numerous apps simultaneously and easily switch among them. Another addition includes folders, so you can organizing apps by folders simply by dragging one related app on top of another. The software automatically names the folder (Entertainment, Utilities, etc.), though you can change the suggested name. AirPrint, which allows you to wireless print. Anohter wirless feature is AirPlay that lets you wirelessly stream movies, music and pictures from the iPad to the latest Apple TV box to watch on a big-screen TV. Search functionalities have increased with the ability to find text on Web pages. Now when you type a search term in the Google field in Safari, you can find text matches on the page you have open. It's not immediately obvious you can even do this — the "On This Page" matches appear below "Google Suggestions" for Web searches.

Mirabyte Front Face Windows 7 UI Walk Through
[LESS INFO] 635 VIEWS | ADDED 10:19:06 11/22/10
http://www.netbooknews.com Windows 7 tablets make you realize that they just aren't meant for touch, the start menu, taskbar, and itty bitty close/minimize/maximize buttons in Windows weren’t really designed for touch input. But there are a number of companies coming up with software designed to run on top of Windows which makes the experience of using the operating system manageable. Mirabyte, which is developing a UI called FrontFace for Windows tablets. FrontFace offers you large icons to close an application or perform other actions. The software also includes a number of original apps designed for touch input including a media player, YouTubeapp, and some games. There are also start page widgets for items including news, weather, and calendar appointments. The UI isn't done, far from it and we think if they want to charge 20 Euros for it they need to put in a few more development hours getting all the glitches out. Watch the video and see Sascha's frustration increase!

ArtRage 3 Pro Software Walk Through
[LESS INFO] 516 VIEWS | ADDED 05:58:47 11/09/10
http://www.netbooknews.com If you've ever felt that creating art online means learning a complicated program like photoshop you haven't played with Art Rage. Its now in its 3rd incarnation and has recently released Art Rage 3 Studio Pro, which replicates real-world painting and drawing techniques including crayons, chalk, felt pen, oil and watercolours, and more. It provides oil paints that smear and blend on the canvas, watercolor strokes that merge to create soft, wet gradations, and each different tool interacts on the screen as it would in traditional art studios. Its so easy that children can figure it out and make shocking creating projects. The program’s interface is easy to use and the tools are smartly laid out within a quarter-circle on each side of the painting area. The one of the left contains the selection and eraser tools and all the different painting instruments, each of which can be resized using the percentage bar in the bottom left-hand corner. The quarter-circle on the right, meanwhile, holds the colour palette. The desktop versions ArtRage 3 Studio and Studio Pro contain all features of the iPad version, along with additional tools such as stencils, rulers, stickers, sticker spray, glitter tools, custom color palettes and more. ArtRage is available on Windows and Macintosh, and it supports Wacom tablets and Interactive White Boards. A picture is worth a thousand words and here is the video so you can see it for your self in action.

Unboxing: T1005 10.1" Dual Core Netvertible
[LESS INFO] 120 VIEWS | ADDED 07:05:04 11/08/10
http://www.netbooknews.com Today we are unboxing Gigabyte’s latest 10 inch netbook that converts to a tablet, the Gigabyte T1005 sporting the dual core Intel Atom N550. In the box you'll find a few extra's that really add tremendous value making the unit feel like a highend PC. The case and keyboard cloth are nice touches, but since the price is higher then a traditional netbook these small additions really make you feel like you've gotten alot for your money. Also another reason for the slightly higher price point is the inclusion of Windows 7 Home Premium, this is more expensive then Windows 7 Starter. Spec wise the Gigabyte G-Style T1005M is powered by a 1.5GHz Intel Atom N550 dual-core processor, a 10.1-inch swivels multitouch LED-backlit display with resolution of 1366

CPT SunLight Viewable Low Power Screen Technology
[LESS INFO] 281 VIEWS | ADDED 07:02:56 11/05/10
http://www.netbooknews.com CPT is a display manufacturer here in Taiwan, they've got a transreflective display that looks identical to Pixel Qi and supposedly has the same .5 power consumption. Now they have produced another screen technology that is so new that all they haven't even named it, they just call it: SunLight Viewable Low Power Screen Technology. I've actually been holding of on this story of about two weeks trying to get more information on it, like how much power it actually consumes. They claim that its less then 1/2 the amount as a normal screen but by looking at there is no way you'd think this is possible. I'm holding reservation until they get back to me with some facts or will commit to arrangements to have me come down to their factory/offices out by the airport here in Taipei. Digitimes recently reported that they've reported a profit loss last quarter, my hope is that this will make them more hungry and possibly get back to me (yes I'm complaining about Taiwanese PR with foreign media!) This technology could potentially be very exciting for mobile computers as the colour saturation is richer then anything we've seen in the transreflective category. I do show you the transreflective display similar to Pixel Qi in the video so you can see the difference for your self!

2 Classmate PCs Set to Take After School English School in Taipei
[LESS INFO] 372 VIEWS | ADDED 07:27:07 11/04/10
http://www.netbooknews.com The notion that each child can have a computer in the classroom is a great dream. In the mean time while we sort out the logistics of how we are going to make this happen why don't we figure out how a small school could make use of just two. The English House a boutique English school in Taipei and has been provided with 2 Classmate PCs. Scott & Sheila McIntosh owners of the cram school discuss how they plan on integrating them into their curriculum. They have only had they a day so this is ground zero, learn how what they hope these netbook will foster in the classroom and their reservations that gadgets are gimmicks. The English House offers over a dozen classes but each is limited to a maximum of 10 students. They offer classes from Grade 1 all the way up to Junior High. Since they don't have a large budget for technology its important for them to see the value in rolling out new education tools in their boutique english school. The English House presents a unique example of how english schools in Asia might start to adopt this form of affordable technology in the classroom. Situations like this are actually very standard in Asia as after school programs teaching children english are standard practice. They are an additional cost to the parents so the quality of education provided can vary greatly between school. The English House hopes to make themselves more competitive by integrating netbooks into the classroom. Please follow along as this is a multipart series that will deal with different aspects of netbooks as an educational tool in the classroom. Below you'll find the first video of the series.

[LESS INFO] 984 VIEWS | ADDED 08:00:48 11/03/10
http://www.netbooknews.com The LG P500 Optimus One is mid range phone with a TFT touchscreen and a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels. It does not support multitouch but does come with an accelerometer. There are no complaints about the wireless connections. It runs on GSM 850, 900, 1,800 and 1,900 MHz networks and operates in 3G thanks to the HSDPA protocol to 900 and 2,100 MHz and HSUPA. So it will be made available in most geography's. It has Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP audio profile, which is the standard that can link the phone with wireless headsets. The physical connections consist of an audio jack of 3.5 mm and a microUSB port. The camera is a modest 3.15 megapixel but as you'll see in the video it too a decent photo even while shaky! This is the telling feature that it is a mid range smartphone as most today do not fall below five megapixels range. As the player multimedia, supports audio formats MP3, WAV, Windows Media Audio (WMA) and eAAC + and the video MP4, H.264, H.263 and Windows Media Video (WMV). Comes with FM radio tuner in stereo. If you aren't looking for super phone but want something reasonable price, here in Taiwan it averages around 10,000NT ($325USD). However, it isn't a must have phone as LG has not opted for a better camera and screen, as well as more advanced connections such as Bluetooth 3.0. It an average phone for those people who want an Android handset and don't really care about advanced functionality. Hands on: Gigabyte T1125N Netvertible
[LESS INFO] 536 VIEWS | ADDED 09:10:56 11/02/10
http://www.netbooknews.com Want a tablet and a notebook? Well there is a category in between where the notebook turns into a tablet, we fondly refer to it as the netvertible category. Gigabyte has been making these for a few generations now, their latest one being the most interesting. The 11.6 T1125 comes in 3 varieties the lowest version spec wise (T1125M) is aimed at the emerging markets, which ones we are still waiting to find out. We got some hands on time with the T1125N which comes in Core i3 & i5 sporting NVIDIA GeForce 310M DDRIII 512MB and supports NVIDIA Optimus Technology. Connectivity wise we are looking at 1 USB 3.0, 2 x USB 2.0, esata, audio jacks, vga, 4 in 1 card reader & a port for the docking station which will house the DVD burner. Getting online you've got a few options Bluetooth 2.1 if you want to tether, 802.11 b/g/n Wireless and a 3.5G module is optional but the antenna is already built in. The booktop docking station is what set Gigabyte notebooks apart, they have been playing around with various configurations as the M1305 & M1405 have a different style of docking station. The important question that we should be asking right now is how much is this going to cost and when is it going to be available. Unfortunately there is no word but they are trying to get it for sale for Christmas but it sounds like we shouldn't hold our breath and CES is much more likely. Below the video you'll find the spec sheet for the T1125N & T1125M. Here is the video showing off the 2 speakers and 2 subwoofers as well as the docking station in action.
