By 14, Kat had dropped out of school, got her first tattoo (an old english 'J' on her ankle and started tattooing her friends. By 16, she had her first legit gig at Sin City Tattoo - honing her skills on convicts, junkies and gang members. For the next while, Kat paid her dues in shops around California, until she got a job at a place in Hollywood called 'True Tattoo' - with ink legend Chris Garver. Eventually, Chris got his own reality series - 'Miami Ink' - and he wanted a woman on the show. Two seasons later, she opened her own shop - High Voltage - which became the backdrop for her own show 'LA Ink'.
