For this week's show we're changing things up a bit by doing a kids cooking toy review. For Christmas, Soph received the Girl Gourmet Cupcake Maker and in this episode, we demonstrate how it works and let you know what we think of it. NOTE:This toy was a gift from me (the Mom) to Soph. I purchased it on my own, we were not asked to do this review and received no compensation for it.

Pizza is always popular meal with kids. Part of its attraction, I think, is that it's such a customizable meal. If one person likes pepperoni and the other doesn't, well we just don't add pepperoni to the whole pizza then, right? Each person gets just what they like. This recipe takes traditional pizza, and wraps it up in a pocket. Each person gets their very own ingredients and can make their pizza just the way they like it. When we made them, Sophia didn't dd any sauce, 'cause she doesn't like sauce, just cheese and a few other items. Alex added extra sauce and a variety of meats to address his carnivorous tendencies. The best part is, it's a fun meal to make together, as a family!

Alex and Soph are shrimpaholics and this is their absolute favorite way to eat it. It's kind of like scampi, but all the fat is replaced with reduced low-sodium broth and lemon juice! This high in lean protein, low in fat meal is super tasty and fun to make with the kids!

You can't have a New Years Party without hors d'oeurves for snacking on throughout the evening, right? Sooo, Alex, Soph and I came up with three 2 Kids hors d?oeurves recipes: Lemony-Garlic Shrimp Skewers, Bacon-Wrapped Asparagus, and Mini-Wrapped Hot Dogs. These recipes are great for kids to help with and they taste great too!

Sandwiches are quick and easy for lunch or even a light dinner, but that doesn?t mean they can?t be fun. This recipe is really more of an activity that makes sandwich and a family cooking adventure. When we make these, we customize our own fixings and pick our own shapes, but you could easily simplify the ingredients and use the same cookie cutter for them all; then serve them as part of a Christmas lunch buffet for the kids their friends.

Christmas time is a time for tradition, and one of our family tradition's is making perogies. Alex and Soph are 1/2 Polish on their dad's side, and one of our favorite Polish dishes is perogies. Now I'm mostly German, so I have a strong appreciation for the Slavic food; so when I had the opportunity, I learned how to make this family recipe straight from the kid's Grandma. In this episode, Alex and Soph share their Grandma's recipe for perogies (with a little influence from their mom ;D)

So Thanksgiving is about turkey. We like turkey. But, we also like meatballs. Since the kids are going to be eating the 'real thing' on Thanksgiving day at their dad's, we celebrated at grandma's with the meatball variety of turkey. Watch as Alex and Soph share their secrets for our Thanksgiving Turkey Meatballs...

Welcome to our first Thanksgiving episode for 2009! Because we like eating and hanging out together cooking, the Two Kids tribe truly enjoys Thanksgiving. It's not just about the traditional delicious either, BUT, our Cream Cheese Pumpkin Pie is one traditional treat we never forget. Honestly, it's mostly the crust; the gingersnap crumbs add just the right spicy touch--two words: drool inducing.

Yay! It's Halloween! We are so excited to go trick-or-treating (and thankful it's not snowing here in good 'ole Minnesota). Soph's gonna be Hannah Montana, and Alex as Darth Vadar--And, Mom's gonna be a Zombie Hippie (we'll make sure to post photos). Anyway, our Halloween finale closes out this season with some cute and tasty Peanut Butter Spider Cookies. Thanks for watching and have a Spook-alicious Halloween!!
