April 28th is Workers' Memorial Day, a day to remember and mourn the workers killed, doing their jobs, each year. 2006 data is the most recent available and nearly 6000 workers died during work, 16 workers a day.
We also need to fight for better prevention. Thousands of workers are injured or made ill each day at work. Companies often cut corners on safety in search of greater profits and workers are often scared of being fired if they dare to report a work injury.
