In Second Life, Lynden Labs owns huge amounts of land, makes their own laws and mints their own currency. They are, in effect, a nation-state. On April 14th, 2008, Second Front raided the Lynden Treasury. We plotted, we attacked and we freed the Lynden Dollars. Presented as a live performance at a panel discussion hosted at the San Francisco Art Institute, we impersonated the panelists to disguise our true identities in this historic raid.

Second Front performed "Pizza SLut!" on May 23, 2007. In response to media claims that Domino's Pizza was opening a branch in Second Life, we decided it was time to pre-empt the corporation and show them how pizzas really ought to be delivered. We gathered our forces and offered pizzas to friends. This culminated in getting kicked out of Allenvest -- an emerging stock market with allegations of shady dealings. What can we say? We were just delivering pizzas.

On February 11th, 2007 Second Front performed Spawn of the Surreal at the NMConnect Campus (New Media Campus) as part of the Chaos festival program organized by In Kenzo. Spawn of the Surreal was a three-act performance with the first act comprising of a spectacle of avatar B-flick horror as members of our audience, unbeknownst to them at the time, mutated into Cubist-like configurations as they sat in the scripted staircase chairs that were part of our installation. Real world gallery visitors enjoyed a projected live online performance where Second Front enacted textual performances that were ‘communicated’ through the spirits of four dead performers – Tristan Tzara , Ana Mendieta , Charlotte Moorman and Rudolf Schwarzkogler . On March 12, 2007 Second Front performed "Martyr Sauce" -- a 60s-style protest in one of Second Life's combat sims. Unlike MMORPGs such as World of Warcraft or Everquest, Second Life is not a gaming environment. Players do not have hit points obtain levels or cast spells. Very few locations feature actual combat. When you die, you get teleported back to your home location. With the ability to reincarnate without impunity, we carried peace signs, flowers and wore tie-dye outfits. We smoked virtual spliffs and offered hits of SL acid to those around us. Reactions were mixed. Some wanted to kills us. Others were confused.
