[LESS INFO] 0 VIEWS | ADDED 14:03:54 10/29/09
For more info visit www.newsinfusion.com We are used to being told to eat our “greens.” But what about our reds, blues, yellows and oranges? According to a new report, 78% of Americans are suffering a “phytonutrient” gap, missing out on the disease-fighting benefits of colorful fruits and vegetables. The most severe gap was found in blue/purple fruits and vegetables – with 88% of Americans falling short. America’s Phytonutrient Report is the first major analysis of fruit and vegetable consumption by color category to calculate a “phytonutrient gap.” Registered physician assistant and health/lifestyle expert Amy Hendel shares some findings from the report along with simple tips to add color to your diet. Hendel says that America’s Phytonutrient Report by Nutrilite is the first major analysis of fruit and vegetable consumption by color category which revealed a shortage of important “phytonutrients” in our diets. A staggering 8 out of 10 Americans are missing out on the health benefits of a diet rich in colorful fruits and vegetables because they have a “phytonutrient gap.”

The Importance Of Accreditation In Breast Cancer Treatment
[LESS INFO] 2 VIEWS | ADDED 19:03:45 10/26/09
More more info visit www.newsinfusion.com A new survey found most women don’t understand the importance of accreditation in breast cancer treatment centers. Surprisingly, new research from the American College of Surgeons found two-thirds of women (66%) admit they were not aware or did not know if breast cancer treatment centers and facilities can be accredited. However, where women choose to get breast cancer treatment can impact the care they receive, and ultimately the results they achieve. To be “accredited,” breast cancer centers must follow a comprehensive and consistent set of standards for treatment based on medical guidelines and evidence. They must also support patients’ social and emotional needs. Accredited centers are screened by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers, a program of the American College of Surgeons and advised by leading patient groups and professional medical societies. After a brief overview of accreditation – what it means and why it is important – women overwhelmingly find it to be an important aspect in choosing a breast cancer treatment facility. Dr. David Winchester, medical director for the College’s cancer programs, talked about the importance of accreditation and what women need to know about accreditation. He was joined by a breast cancer surgeon and a patient and they discussed the results of the survey that revealed women’s lack of awareness of accreditation, the importance of choosing an accredited institution and the facilities available in your area.

Inc. (Nasdaq: YHOO) is giving the yodel back to the people by inviting them to participate in the creation of the next generation of one of its best known brand assets – the Yahoo! yodel. “The foundation of the ‘It’s Y!ou’ campaign is about making the web more personally relevant to each of our consumers, so it’s important that we engage the world in the creation of our new yodel,” said Elisa Steele, Yahoo! executive vice president and chief marketing officer. “It’s essentially a unique form of user generated content that honors the millions of people who visit Yahoo! every day.” The Yodel Studio kicks-off a casting call for the world’s best new yodels, allowing people to personalize and reinterpret the Yahoo! yodel. Participants will compete for a chance to be featured in Yahoo!’s new global advertising campaign and on one of the world’s largest stages: the Yahoo! homepage. For each yodel submitted in the online contest, Yahoo! will also donate to participating global charities.* “The yodel is synonymous with Yahoo! and we’re ready for people around the world to put their unique expression on it,” added Steele. “Whether your yodel is 80s punk or country funk, the Yodel Studio is about self-expression, having fun and allowing all the people who use Yahoo! to be an essential part of our brand revitalization effort.” “My parents were both musicians, and my dad taught himself to yodel by listening to Jimmie Rodgers records. By the time I was six, my parents had me performing a yodel act during their dinner shows,” explains country music superstar, Jewel. “Yodeling has deep roots in the history of country music and I have finished many of my concerts with a yodel. It’s always rewarding to have my audiences respond so positively to it. I love that Yahoo! is helping expose more people to yodeling now, too.”

For more info visit www.newsinfusion.com Washington, DC) Five million lives could be saved and 50 million serious injuries prevented over the next ten years, according to a report presented to Members of Congress today by international road safety experts. But to do so, world leaders must launch a ‘Decade of Action’ to combat the growing global road death crisis. Actress and Make Roads Safe Campaign ambassador Michelle Yeoh, urged Members of Congress to join efforts to combat the world’s fastest-growing and most neglected public health emergency. Yeoh, best known for her roles in the Hollywood hits Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Tomorrow Never Dies, and Memoirs of a Geisha, urged the US government to play a leading role at next month’s first-ever UN Ministerial Conference on Road Safety in Moscow. “The US has made progress on road safety, but of course much more needs to be done,” Yeoh said. “The United States can be a world leader on road safety, to save lives both at home and abroad in a Decade of Action.” “Having traveled to Africa, Asia, and Latin America to see the world’s dangerous roads,” Yeoh added, "I am known for my action movies and doing my own stunts, but some of my most frightening moments have been crossing a dangerous road with children who are just trying to get to school. We must act now to save our children."

The AMA will continue to work for reform that makes the system work better for patients and physicians. We must seize this opportunity this year to achieve meaningful health reform for America’s patients and physicians. “The President outlined three essential goals that are vital to reform efforts in this country, including: ensuring the current system remains secure and stable for those who already have insurance coverage and are happy with it; making insurance coverage affordable and accessible to those who need it; and reducing unnecessary costs and waste in the current system. “The AMA believes these core goals are ones that the majority of the American people can and do support, and we urge Congress to find common ground in achieving them.

More info visit www.newsinfusion.com September 2nd 2009 -Rising commodity prices for metals, combined with the crisis in the housing market, have created a unique opportunity for thieves who are stealing scrap metal from abandoned and foreclosed homes and selling the material to unwitting recyclers. Thieves have also created public safety hazards by targeting public sources of valuable metals, such as manhole covers, traffic lights and telecommunications and electric infrastructure. Because in many cases the recycling facilities were taking the heat for accepting the stolen materials, the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries, Inc. (ISRI), the national trade association for the $87 billion industry, began working aggressively to combat the theft problem by creating coalitions with local law enforcement agencies.

For more info visit www.newsinfusion.com Pregnancy can be a roller coaster of emotions. Of course there's happiness, even elation and giddiness. There also can be fear and anxiety. Peg Moline, editor-in-chief of FitPregnancy shares some insights from their current Hollywood Issue about how well-known celebrity moms such as Jessica Alba, Halle Berry, Angelina Jolie, and Jennifer Garner prepared for pregnancy and motherhood: What women often experience is that their emotions are very close to the surface; they might tear up at a movie or even a greeting card; then have heart-clenching anxiety about their upcoming responsibilities as a mother. And more and more we are realizing that some women experience depression during pregnancy. After the baby is born, the same feelings -- joy, fear, even sadness -- arise, and they also are intensified by exhaustion. Most new mothers experience some form of baby blues, or mild postpartum depression, simply due to sleep deprivation and the feeling of being overwhelmed by this new territory.
