Film as Canvas : Experimental filmmaker Joel Schlemowitz,has shown his avant-garde shorts at Sundance, Tribeca Film Festival, and MOMA. In his Greenpoint studio, we see how he manipulates film to reflect both poetry and the documentary tradition.
Artist to Artist : On the eve of his Celebrate Brooklyn concert, Goran Bregovic, talks about his 30-piece Wedding & Funeral Orchestra and the Serbian marching band and Gypsy influences that make his music so infectious. In the studio with him: Ken Thomson of Gutbucket and Asphalt Orchestra, representing his type of NYC-makes-you-crazy jazz.
Dancing Under the Stars : At the Red Hook Waterfront Arts Festival, the high school students of Jow-ile-Bailar Dance Company, under choreographer Patricia Dye, show off the training theyre getting through Dance Theatre Etcetera. Steel Pan-demic : A master of the steel pan, Lyndon Achee plays with his jazz group, then spreads the noise with a whole bunch of students from MS 354, The School of Integrated Learning in Crown Heights.
