[E] Fattoria Poggerino (#1) in Chianti, the wines with Piero Lanza
[LESS INFO] 1 VIEWS | ADDED 16:59:21 06/30/09
http://www.bkwine.com/wine_tours/wine_tours.htm --- Part 1 of the interview with Piero Lanza, co-owner (together with his sister) and winemaker at Fattoria Poggerino, a classic and biodynamic winery and farm. Poggerino is a winery located in Radda in Chianti in Italy, at the heart of the Tuscan wine region. It’s a small vineyard and winery, 43 hectares with 11 hectares of vineyards with mainly sangiovese. They make a rose wine, primary purpose it to increase the quality of the red wine. The base red is called Il Labirinto made from sangiovese from young vines. Then they make a Chianti Classico Poggerino, aged for 12 months in French oak barrels – a classic Tuscan wine with original character. Next is a Chianti Classico Riserva Bugialla, which is the name of a small vineyard plot with old wines. They also have an IGT (Indicazione Geografica Tipica) which is called Primamateria, which is more in a “New World” style (albeit Italian). The Chianti Classico is made from sangiovese. They also have some merlot planted which they mainly use for their super Tuscany. Some of the wines are aged in French oak barrels, barriques, but they don’t want to get too much oak character. The ideal is to make wine with unique regional and terroir character. A genuine Chianti / Tuscany / Italian wine producer. Don’t miss part 2 where Piero Lanza talks about organic and biodynamic farming. http://www.poggerino.com/ Music: George Wood, One more for the road, http://www.podsafeaudio.com By BKWine, http://www.bkwine.com See all our wine videos on our BKWine TV channel: http://www.youtube.com/bkwine

http://www.bkwine.com/wine_tours/wine_tours.htm --- Interview with Noel Pinguet, winemaker and co-owner of the Domaine Huet l Echansonne vineyards in the Vouvray wine region in the Loire Valley. It is a biodynamic vineyard in the centre of the Loire Valley. [F] The language is French. Tous les vins sont faits avec le cepage chenin blanc http://www.huet-echansonne.com By BKWine, http://www.bkwine.com See all our wine videos on our BKWine TV channel: http://www.youtube.com/bkwine Music: George Wood, One more for the road, http://www.podsafeaudio.com Distributed by Tubemogul.

[E] Chateau Yquem (part 1), Sauternes, Sandrine Garbay winemaker, interview
[LESS INFO] 0 VIEWS | ADDED 17:09:03 06/18/09
http://www.bkwine.com/wine_tours/wine_tours.htm --- Interview with Sandrine Garbay the chief winemaker and cellar master (maitre de chai). She has been in charge of the wine making since 1998 at Yquem. Sandrine has made a dream come true by becoming the winemaker of Yquem. The most important thing for Sandrine in making the wine is to respect the source and the raw material, so to speak, to respect the grapes and extract all aromas and elegance that the grapes and the noble rot (botrytis cinerea) can give. Chateau d'Yquem is located in Sauternes in Bordeaux and is one of the world’s most expensive sweet white wines, in fact, it's simply one of the world's most exclusive wines all categories. Yquem is the biggest property in Sauternes having some 100 hectares. The size adds complexity and depth to the wine. Sandrine also talks about how to pair Yquem wine with food – matching it with for example lobster and shellfish or even fish. Also chicken or veal can be delicious with Yquem. Sandrine finishes with a few short words on the 2009 vintage. Early in the season everything looks very promising with just enough water, but perhaps a little bit late development. Don’t miss the second video on Chateau d'Yquem where Sandrine Garbay talks about the taste and aging of Yquem. http://www.yquem.fr/ Music: Mable Lynch, man for Me, http://www.podsafeaudio.com By BKWine, http://www.bkwine.com See all our wine videos on our BKWine TV channel: http://www.youtube.com/bkwine

We taste the 2005 vintage which is a very big and rich vintage. The wine is a blend of grenache, mourvedre, syrah, cinsaut and clairette. The make a range of wines: Chateauneuf du Pape, Gigondas, a special cuvee called La Roquette to name some.
