Today we traveled around New Orleans with Hanson interviewing local business owners as well as dropping in on a Tulane business class meeting discussing the future of New Orleans small businesses. Tomorrow we have a hectic schedule of interviews around New Orleans as we continue to create content for the sequel to Independent America. So far the people that Hanson has interviewed have been amazing. With this busy schedule, Kirk and I are disappointed we couldn’t keep up with the one-a-day schedule on the videos…but don’t worry more are on the way. Kirk and I went to Bourbon street tonight and sampled the local beverages (hurricanes! :) and even though its late we have edited a quick video to post to the web. We hope you are enjoying this glimpse into the trip.

As a photogrpaher I have many concerns with the proposed Orphan Works bill; specifically that the bill could remove the last availbale outlet for a photographer to sue an infringing party if the infringing party hides behind the 'safe harbor' of the Orphan Works bill provides. By claiming that a diligent search for the copyright holder wa sundertaken, a company or individual could claim afetr the fact that they believed the work (a photo in this case) was an Orphan Work and therefore free to use, even for commercial gain. This presents a serious problem for photogrpahers who already must defend thier copyright with vigor. Orphan Law is great in many respects, but it is sorely lacking from a photographer's veiwpoint. I hope my sessage will help infleunce the next draft of this bill.

I have put toeether a short trailer for the documentary project I'm working on. Bear with me as this is a quick/rough edit. Currently I have 40+ hours of tape to edit, with around 15-20 more hours left to film. This trailer is edited from a single tape just to keep my viewers interestd and to answer the question of why I haven't posted many pictures as of late. One other thing, I am working on a way to stabilise these shots better, hopefully through Final Cut Pro. The wind was around 40-50mph for this climb and I couldn't carry a tripod. It was hard to get everything to look rock solid, though not for lack of trying. Anyone know of software I could use to do more image stabilisation in post production?
